The security camera watches and prevails at every instant, invading into every corner. Constantly watching…

#surveillancecore pt1. utilises pj5 coding and a CRT installation. The code gives a scale of emotion depending on the viewers facial reaction. It questions how humans are perceived in the eye of technology and how information is processed though data. a dichotomy between emotion and emotionlessness

#surveillancecore pt2 is an interactive video installation that utilises a security camera, projected image and interaction.

The interaction grants agency in a context where personal autonomy is often unseen or extracted. The human actor is encouraged to take autonomy in such situations, refusing to conform to the manipulative nature of the use of hidden camera. The viewer is reminded of the limited perspective of surveillance, yet the extent to which the image can be distorted. Ultimately the mechanisms of surveillance capitalism are questioned and offer new ways of reclaiming control in a system driven by data extraction.

i encourage you to take autonomy
